SURFACE/TENSION

A sound-and-kink performance combining rope, needles, contact microphones, and physiological sensors, “SURFACE/TENSION” breaks down the barriers between internal experience and external expression by sonifying a body in stress. Through a suspension bloodletting ritual, the performer’s body is made vulnerable and monitored during the performance.  Sensors and microphones capture the details that our eyes and ears can easily miss. Through sound, we are able to track the body’s journey through intensity to transcendence.
