January 9 @ 8:00 pm 11:30 pm

Nine Years of Conflict:
A Shibari and Saxophone Performance

Join Pixaya, Pedro Cordas, and Saara Rei at the Fool for an improvised Shibari-Saxophone performance, where the trio will work together to form a dialogue between each other using Japanese-inspired rope bondage and sound, shaped by a framework of key actions, objects, and movements inspired by the title, Nine Years of Conflict.

About the performers:

Pixaya aka Ayberk Pedirik is a Corlu born Berlin based contemporary saxophonist, with a classical + jazz background. He mainly focuses on interdisciplinary & improvised performances

Pedro Cordas studied fine arts in Lisbon, Portugal and started to learn Shibari in Tokyo in the early 00’s and was deeply influenced by Nawashi Akechi Denki and Japanese culture; he has been active in the shibari scene since, for the past 20 years. He has crossed paths with most professional Japanese Bakushi and western riggers and has performed and taught in four continents including, Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania.

Saara Rei is a performance artist and workshop facilitator with a professional background in music, dance, education, and public speaking. She has been performing since early childhood, and with that, performance comes as a natural addition to her Kinbaku practice. She has a personal taste for the absurd, the extreme, and the disturbing, and often likes to explore themes that aim to provoke contradictory, dissonant feelings.
