In the early 20th century, this pictorial representation was transformed by the occultists into the divination tool we are familiar with today. By blending various systems of symbolism like Kabbalah, Astrology, and Alchemy, Tarot divination became a means for Magickians to explore and integrate these traditions into their craft. While Pamela “Pixie” Smith and A. E. Waite aimed to conceal most of these secret teachings in their deck of cards, Crowley and Harris compiled all their knowledge into the Book of Thoth. Hence, approaching Thoth Tarot might feel more intimidating compared to Pixie Tarot.
