DESCRIPTION:Occult Talk: Shamanism\, Actionism\, and Magic: a reconnection to the spiritual through performance Art.\n\n\n\nThe European artistic avant-gardes of the second half of the 20th century were profusely nourished by references to spiritual transcendence and animistic search. Beyond the simple iconoclastic stance and the intentional desecration of symbols of established religions lies an individual artistic and spiritual quest at the same time as a search to transform the social and political environment from the depth of the magical/artistic act as a reconfigurative tool of reality.Artistic movements such as “Fluxus” or “Vienna Actionism” have influenced our perception of contemporary art and currently belong to the mainstream of art historiography. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeyond this historiographical definition\, however\, we are interested in asking questions about the relationship of these movements with occult practice from a creative and critical perspective. \n\n\n\nRituals\, visons\, magical objects\, sacred spaces and times\, are some of the terms that intersect transversally between the Art/magic territories. \n\n\n\nWe will analyze the work of artists of stature such as Joseph Beuys\, Hermann Nitsch\, Rudolf Schwarzkogler\, and Günter Brus among others; focusing specifically on ritual practice and esotericism. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will also tangentially touch more diffuse topics such as hyperstition and autopoiesis. Seasoned\, of course\, with a bit of critical theory from our own personal peripheries. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is not a lecture\, it is a space to share experiences and learn together.It is a talk open to all who are interested\, regardless of personal practice or level of experience on the subject. \n\n\n\nThis talk will be led by Juan Pablo Arce Cardozo Artist/Collector/Curator \n\n\n\nDoors open at 7:00 p.m. Event starts at 8:00 p.m.Donation based event.
