DESCRIPTION:Nine Years of Conflict:A Shibari and Saxophone Performance\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin Pixaya\, Pedro Cordas\, and Saara Rei at the Fool for an improvised Shibari-Saxophone performance\, where the trio will work together to form a dialogue between each other using Japanese-inspired rope bondage and sound\, shaped by a framework of key actions\, objects\, and movements inspired by the title\, Nine Years of Conflict. \n\n\n\nAbout the performers: \n\n\n\nPixaya aka Ayberk Pedirik is a Corlu born Berlin based contemporary saxophonist\, with a classical + jazz background. He mainly focuses on interdisciplinary & improvised performances \n\n\n\nPedro Cordas studied fine arts in Lisbon\, Portugal and started to learn Shibari in Tokyo in the early 00’s and was deeply influenced by Nawashi Akechi Denki and Japanese culture; he has been active in the shibari scene since\, for the past 20 years. He has crossed paths with most professional Japanese Bakushi and western riggers and has performed and taught in four continents including\, Asia\, Europe\, North America\, and Oceania. \n\n\n\nSaara Rei is a performance artist and workshop facilitator with a professional background in music\, dance\, education\, and public speaking. She has been performing since early childhood\, and with that\, performance comes as a natural addition to her Kinbaku practice. She has a personal taste for the absurd\, the extreme\, and the disturbing\, and often likes to explore themes that aim to provoke contradictory\, dissonant feelings.

DESCRIPTION:Occult Talk: Kinbaku Rituals\n\n\n\nJapanese-inspired rope bondage\, often referred to as Shibari or Kinbaku became tremendously popular in the West over the past 5 – 10 years. \n\n\n\nIt is used for sex (or as foreplay for sex) but also for recreational purposes\, to dance\, as performative arts\, for installations\, or in general: as sensual art. \n\n\n\nBut what happens\, when two people tie together?  \n\n\n\nSometimes there is no better description than: „magic happens”. Engaging in a bondage session can be a profound transformative experience.  \n\n\n\nHow can we understand the magical connection\, the energy flow\, that often happens between rigger and model?  \n\n\n\nAnd finally:  what does it take to create a stronger ritual when engaging with ropes\, not to deplete the potential into shallow consumerism? \n\n\n\nWe are going to ask ourselves this and other questions on Tuesday\, September 12th with Alexander MA (Kinbaku Society of Berlin) at The Fool. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Occult Talk:The Occult Talk is a gathering meant as a round table style to discuss together a proposed topic.The aim is to break the usual schema of having a teaching figure and intimidated students.
