Krautrock and experimental music took this to new heights\, exploring sonic frontiers with synthesizers and innovative techniques to create mystical experiences. Collectives like Cosmic Couriers (Germany) blended science fiction and esoteric philosophy\, while the Vértigo label (UK) promoted conceptual albums exploring the occult. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPioneers such as Delia Derbyshire (UK) from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop used electronic sounds to create soundscapes evoking the mystical and the esoteric. The group White Noise (UK)\, with Ruth White (USA) as a key member\, delved into occult themes with their experimental music. Graham Bond (UK) integrated elements of occultism into his music and personal life\, influenced by Aleister Crowley. Master Wilburn Burchette (USA) crafted instrumental music aimed at inducing mystical and spiritual experiences\, blending innovative guitar techniques with esoteric concepts. Bruce Hack (Canada) explored the fusion of electronic music and occult themes\, using experimental sounds to evoke otherworldly and mystical experiences. Mort Garson (Canada) also made a notable contribution with his album “Black Mass Lucifer\,” a work that blends electronic music with themes of occult ritualism and esoteric philosophy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe use of synthetic sounds allowed musicians to combine ancestral traditions with futuristic visions\, creating new musical ritualities. Trance music\, with its repetitive rhythms\, sought to induce altered states of consciousness\, evoking shamanic rituals and profound spiritual experiences. \n\n\n\nIn this historiographical talk\, we will explore how these elements have influenced music and culture. The session will be complemented with sound examples and recordings illustrating these influences. Please note that this is not a DJ session\, nor is it a talk on music theory\, but a historiographical exploration of the intersections between music and the occult. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe talk is presented by J. Pablo Arce C.\, an artist\, collector\, and independent curator (Bolivia). Suggested donation is between 8 to 10 euros. Two reduced spots available at 5 euros each.

DESCRIPTION:Magick of Iran: Ritual Performance\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n“Magick of Iran” brings to life the rich history of Magick\, tracing its roots from “magus\,” the Latin word for Zoroastrian priests of the Iranian cultural region. This region\, encompassing parts of West Asia\, the Caucasus\, Central Asia\, South Asia\, and East Asia\, was shaped by ancient Iranian empires which interwove their cultural and linguistic elements with local traditions. \n\n\n\nThis performance reveals how Iranian Magick evolved\, particularly after the rise of Islam\, as it merged with Greco-Egyptian traditions\, including Neoplatonism and the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus. This syncretic form of magick reached Europe during the Crusades\, carried by orders such as the Knights Templar\, who later contributed to the evolution of Freemasonry. \n\n\n\nIn the late 19th century\, Victorian occultists\, influenced by a surge of ethnographic research\, reinterpreted these ancient practices\, leading to the creation of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. This order integrated various Magickal traditions\, including those of Iranian origin\, shaping modern Western esotericism. \n\n\n\nThis Ritual Performance aims to recontextualize the Iranian Magick that impacted the Golden Dawn and its subsequent traditions\, such as Thelema. By highlighting its original cultural significance and tracing its development within the Iranian cultural sphere\, it seeks to reclaim the essence of Iranian Magick\, restoring its true historical and cultural context.

Infamous for their singularly transgressive paraphiliac Body Video Art Pieces such as the seminal “Torture Theatre” or “How to raise Women from the Dead”\, White Gardenia’s works have been presented within a spellbinding plethora of collaborative anthology film projects and originary underground releases. In 2023 they were portrayed by filmmaker Jonathan Doe in a feature-length documentary titled “The Art of Self-Harm”\, which acts as a fervent crystallization of White Gardenia’s formal-aesthetic universe/artistic ethos thus far. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The King James Bible”\, an epic-scaled avant-garde underground project re-imagining both the Old and New Testament\, marks an utterly unprecedented vector within White Gardenia’s overarching artistic trajectory\, all the while harkening back to and deepening certain concrete transhumanist notions which were already cryptically explored in previous works of theirs (especially in “How to raise Women from the Dead” with the pre-film “Video for Teilhard de Chardin” being a segment from this work). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInfluenced by Salvador Dali\, Pier Paolo Pasolini\, Jesus Christ\, Warner Sallman as well as the Italian Futurists and early twentieth century Surrealists (Paul Éluard\, Jacques Baron\, Jean Cocteau\, Guillaume Apollinaire\, Man Ray\, Max Ernst\, Jean Carrive\, Tristan Tzara\, René Crevel).
