Nel suo omaggio la giovane artista italiana percorre il quotidiano “anche appena fuori casa: un quotidiano che spero di rendere extra-ordinario (…) dando un’idea di cosa possa fare ancora l’arte. In 2023 they were portrayed by filmmaker Jonathan Doe in a feature-length documentary titled “The Art of Self-Harm”\, which acts as a fervent crystallization of White Gardenia’s formal-aesthetic universe/artistic ethos thus far. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The King James Bible”\, an epic-scaled avant-garde underground project re-imagining both the Old and New Testament\, marks an utterly unprecedented vector within White Gardenia’s overarching artistic trajectory\, all the while harkening back to and deepening certain concrete transhumanist notions which were already cryptically explored in previous works of theirs (especially in “How to raise Women from the Dead” with the pre-film “Video for Teilhard de Chardin” being a segment from this work). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInfluenced by Salvador Dali\, Pier Paolo Pasolini\, Jesus Christ\, Warner Sallman as well as the Italian Futurists and early twentieth century Surrealists (Paul Éluard\, Jacques Baron\, Jean Cocteau\, Guillaume Apollinaire\, Man Ray\, Max Ernst\, Jean Carrive\, Tristan Tzara\, René Crevel). Through a suspension bloodletting ritual\, the performer’s body is made vulnerable and monitored during the performance.  Sensors and microphones capture the details that our eyes and ears can easily miss. SUMMARY:Through the Erotic Gaze: Healing and Power
DESCRIPTION:Art screening event and open discussion with Jatun Risba exploring the superpowers of the erotic: a source of connection\, transformation\, and aliveness. A deep dive into desire\, trauma\, and ecosexuality\, for a shared reflection on pleasure\, consent\, and vulnerability. \n\n\n\nBio(s): \n\n\n\nJatun Risba is a migrant transdisciplinary artist from Slovenia whose work engages ecofeminist and posthumanist discourses through performance and transmedia art and practices of abjection\, détournement and art intervention. Their practice cultivates reciprocity between species by altering & awakening sensory awareness through Vajrayana Buddhist practices and deviant uses of technology. It is profoundly informed by their lived experience of radical self-healing from Multiple Sclerosis (2012–2019). They hold a BA (Hons) from NABA\, Milan\, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Art & Science from Central Saint Martins – UAL. Risba’s work has been presented internationally across Europe\, as well as in Singapore\, South Korea\, Iran\, and the USA. Their texts have appeared in numerous online and print publications\, including Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture and Body\, Space & Technology Journal. \n\n\n\nFranco G. Livera is an artist from Italy who has been using photography and video as his preferred media since the 1990s. He explores the dynamics of disease in all its forms: mental\, physical and spiritual. Risba and Livera have been collaborating regularly since summer 2019.
